INFO: Autodrive is Berlin based Producer Robot Koch, infamous also for his „The Tape“ and „Jahcoozi“ projects, meeting Malte Beckenbach (Schauhbühne Berlin). Their third release on Tonkind is starred by Jahcoozi‘s Leadsinger Sasha with vocals on „Sir Your Wife“, and features a stunning remix by Edgar Peng, Berlin‘s DJ and Producer with the infamous Turmspringer crew. Autodrive continues the journey through unique raw and crackling digital Soul - only this time with a hint of more lyrics and even sharper sound design. On “ Hiding From The Truth“ as well as on „Sir Your Wife“ beats, space and sound melt to a symbiosis of Minimal House, Dub and experimental Electronika. It‘s exactely that what makes it a typical Tonkind release. Here, experimenting and playing with unheard sounds and tones and their combinations are always at the foreground, while sustaining full dancefloor compatibility. Carried by at times straight, at times shuffeled dry beats and shrouded by deepest bass, the low key, floating vocals touch us with their provocative metaphors. While those might be slightly irritating, we soon give in to the subtle hypnosis anyway.What makes the third Autodrive release stand out most is its distinctive sound that sticks, presenting us the warmest sounds electronic music hast to offer. A subliminal feeling of Soul and Blues remains, even though you can‘t really determine why. There are forces at work that deny definition, but certainly make us drift and sweep along to the groove. No surprise Shir Khan alrady charted a previous version of „Sir Your Wife“ before Jahcoozi‘s Leadsinger Sasha came up with the vocals. This track has quite a force. For the remix of „Hiding From The Truth“, Edgar Peng strikes a new path giving it a pure, clubby House flavour. This one goes much more for the guts than the brains, representing more the easy side of the deep original.
